From the recording (I WANT TO) DISAPPEAR
(I WANT TO) DISAPPEAR
My life is a series of dog days
And delirious cat calls
I try to read between the lines of
My sinister pratfalls
Now I want to disappear
I'm sick and tired of the constant fear
I don't believe a single word I hear
I want to disappear
My time is nothing but a quagmire of
Lust and confusion
My eyes are following a lead line of
Pomp and delusion
Now I want to disappear
I'm sick and tired of the constant fear
I don't believe a single word I hear
I want to disappear
Now I want to disappear
Now I want to fade away
I'm sick and tired of the games I play
I don't believe a single word I say
I want to fade away
Now I want to disappear
I'm sick and tired of the constant fear
I don't believe a single word I hear
I want to disappear
My life . . .

COMMENTS
No, the protagonist of this song is not seeking to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming David Copperfield's assistant. Rather, this is the lonely cry of a poor soul who is drowning metaphorically in sadness, but lacks the wherewithal to drown himself physically in water – all to a peppy beat and fetching chord changes.
This was one of the few Jabberwock songs that sounded much better live than recorded. I'm not sure why.
